CIC’s Neighborhood Forum: Community Conditions and the Rental Market

June 26, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$50

CIC’s second annual Neighborhood Forum will bring together building owners, developers, community groups, and policy leaders for a discussion about the challenges and opportunities of providing affordable housing in some of Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods. The program will feature a market overview by Jim Kutill of Appraisal Research Counselors, and a presentation by Jens Ludwig, whose work with the University of Chicago Crime Lab has focused on the recent surges in violence in certain Chicago neighborhoods. Ludwig’s research focuses on social policy, particularly in the areas of urban poverty, crime, and education. A moderated discussion will explore how violence affects building owners and their residents on a daily basis and how owners cope with the challenging conditions.
