The Woodlawn Community Summit is delighted to announce its Poetry and Writers’ Workshop for students grades 6-12 with special guest Tyehimba Jess, 2017 Pulitzer Poetry Prize Winner and University of Chicago alumnus, on Saturday June 17, 2017 from 8:30am-12:00pm at the lovely University of Chicago, Ida Noyes Hall located at 1212 East 59th Street.

The Poetry and Writers’ Workshop is designed for youth with an interest in writing, poetry and the literary arts. Youth will hear Jess read from his 2017 Pulitzer Prize winning book “Olio” and participate in an engaging and open conversation. Following the reading, youth will participate in a one hour, hands on, writers’ workshop entitled “Phone Book” and facilitated by Asadah Kirkland, Founder of the Soulful Chicago Book Fair.
