King of the Policy 2/11 – Musical

February 11, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

$40

King of the Policy, written by Jimalita Tillman and directed by Boaz McGee, is based in the 1940’s, just after prohibition when Black communities nationwide were thriving from the numbers racket. We chronicle what life was like for men and women who were the Kings and Queens of running numbers.

This musical has big singing, dancing, and historical context. 1 1/2 hour no intermission. This will be a journey through Chicago, Kansas City, St. Louis, Detroit, New York. In the 1940’s the U.S. economic opportunity and upward mobility outside the African-American community were the envy of the world. Back then, economic inequality was plummeting.

Come learn about The Jones Brothers, Theodore Rowe, The Reynolds Sisters, and more. We will travel down South Parkway over to Cottage Grove and enjoy time at the Pershing Hotel. Limited community tickets available at BroadwayInBronzeville.com or 773.373.1900. Running February 9-14th. – MG Media
